Hockenheim - Jim Clark Memorial - 2009-05-30
One of the first races of the 2009 season for the Coppa Mille in Germany was the Jim Clark Memorial Meeting at the Hockenheimring. Being so early in the season a good turnout was had, even with Roberto Ragusa towing all the way from Italy for the event.
Good performances were registered in all four divisions of the Coppa Mille. This was apparently a regularity event so points were awarded accordingly. Still interesting however was the early pace shown by Scuderia Topolino customers.
Peter Harald was quick (as always) with a best lap of 2:32,84 minutes for Division 1 cars with his Steyr Puch.
Division 2 is home for many of our customers and here are the best lap times for them.
Ralf Krieg - 1000TC @ 2:25.91
Jan Schouten - 1000TC @ 2:26.80
Andre Van Koeveringe - 1000TC @ 2:26.93
Klaus Kleber - 1000TC @ 2:27.87
Jurgen Schurgers - 1000OT @ 2:30.16
Joop Schouten - 1000TC @ 2.34.27
Ruud Bom - 1000TC @2:35.63
Anton Mansfeld - 1000TC @ 2:39.46
Div. 3 saw Mattias Meyer set the pace with a best lap time of 2:20.07.
Div. 4 is normally the fastest division and while a bit short on entrants some very respectable times were put in.
Hubert Nagl - 1000TC @2:25.21
Bernard Heinrich - 1000TC @2:26.29
Fast time of the day went to Thomas Klingelhofer in his A112, with a time of 2:18.33.
Many of the usual competitors were not present at this early event, but I am sure that names like Reinhold Koster and Wolfgang Doehring will appear at races later this year. I also hope Roberto Ragusa returns to the Coppa Mille again. He apparently had mechanical problems in his first run of the weekend and had to pack up early.
The next Coppa Mille event will be at Spa-Franchorchamps on 30-31 May 2009.
