We have finalized the design of the rear axle kits and these will be available as of September 30, 2009. Prices for the various kits will be announced shortly.
The total axle system will consist of the following kits.
A. Transaxle side-plate and stub axle kit
B. Half-shaft Kit consisting of 2 CV joints and the interconnecting axle
C. Trailing Arm Axle Kit
D. Wheel Flange kit
E. Wilwood Brake Kit.
Kits D and E are optional and are not required. This kit has been "fit-tested" for use with the Fiat 124 Caliper and with the Wilwood calipers. This kit has NOT been tested with any rear drum brake configuration.
Below you will find various photos of the various parts of the system
Kit A. This consists of the new machined aluminum side plate, stub axle (uses standard cross pin and stones) and 98mm flange for CV joints. The side plate has a sealed, roller bearing, and you can specify either steel or ceramic bearing balls.
Kit B contents are in the three photos above. There would be two axles (shown here machined but not yet splined), 4 CV joints complete with rubber boots, grease, clips and attachment bolts.
Kit C would have 2 bearing blocks, 2 bearings, 2 brake brackets, two stub axles, 2 nuts and washers. You will need either Kit D or a standard Fiat 128 front wheel hub to complete the system.
Kit D Qty 2 Fiat 128 Wheel Hub with 12mm wheel studs and nuts.
I managed to get the stub axles mounted in the trailing arms today, as well as the new shock absorbers hung in the chassis.
Kit E Rear Disk Brake Conversion. This kit contains 2 Caliper, 1 set of brake pads, 2 aluminum brake hats and 2 gas vented, solid 5mm rotors.
The next job is to finish off the spline work on the axles. Back to the workshop !!
